What Is the California Infill Parcel Locator?
This site is a tool for pinpointing potential 'infill' sites throughout the state of California. Such parcels are located in areas that have already been urbanized, but the sites are either completely vacant or have structures assessed at extremely low valuations, relative to the land itself. See the Help-FAQ page of this site for an explanation of how non-vacant parcels were selected. Infill parcels may provide additional development opportunities. Learn more about the possible uses and limitations of this site on the About page.

Who Can Use It?
Anyone! The Infill Parcel Locator is designed for a wide audience: local planners interested in improving their communities' quality of life, developers looking for potential properties for new projects, area residents who want to stay informed about possible changes in their neighborhoods, and anyone else who shares a concern about the way California will deal with future growth. This site is intended for users of all technical backgrounds.

This site was developed for a California Statewide Infill Study conducted at the Institute for Urban and Regional Development (IURD) at UC Berkeley. This research project took place during 2004 and 2005, with Professor John Landis as the principal investigator. The study was sponsored by the California Business, Transportation, and Housing Agency, with Caltrans and the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) serving as project associates. This site was funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), State Research and Planning Program, and the State of California, Department of Transportation. This project welcomes comments about the site and how it could be improved on the Feedback page.
